19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard surfaces
A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-term coach his previous coach.
Now collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.
This marks his initial championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after spring of that year.
Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one various competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
The player's defensive play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to play at the highest level was concluded.
But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an better service.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the final five points to gain the advantage.
The pair swapped service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour championship, took control to push for a third set.
The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
